It was The Lion King 's music as much as the story and animation that made the film a smash hit. John, Rice, and Lebo M. Unsurprisingly, it greatly benefits Disney's live-action remake that Zimmer, Lebo M. Altogether, this gives The Lion King 's music a consistency while also updating it with a fresh sound. Here's every song heard in 's The Lion King :. The hyenas have a much smaller role in the number, merely chanting " be prepared " instead of singing full verses, while Scar's lines preceding the final verse of "Be Prepared" are completely new to the scene. This version of "Be Prepared" is more subdued and less theatrical than the original, and because of that, will likely be the most jarring song in the film. Unlike in the animated film, though, this rendition of the song is actually a bigger and longer production, including more verses and even involving other animals who live as outcasts alongside Timon and Pumbaa.

As we all know, 's The Lion King featured one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time. So it's safe to say that when it comes to the soundtrack for the next Lion King movie, director Barry Jenkins has his work cut out for him. Britell is the new addition to the team, having composed the score for Jenkins' last two movies, Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk. The film is expected to move both forwards and backwards in time a la The Godfather Part II , and it is expected to explore Mufasa's origin story. Williams scored a huge hit in with his song "Happy" from Despicable Me 2 , and Disney would no doubt love to replicate the success of that catchy track. Other than John Williams , Zimmer is Hollywood's go-to composer for mainstream blockbusters, and he has handled some of my favorite scores, including The Rock and The Dark Knight. And speaking of exciting music news to come out of Disney's Investor Day, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda will contribute new songs to the animated movie Encanto , and you can click here for more on that magical Colombian project. His Oscar picks have appeared on the LA Times' Envelope site, and he agrees with screenwriter William Goldman who famously said of Hollywood, "nobody knows anything. Image via Criterion.
